What is Happening!!!??!!

Dow Falls 778 Points

Ok, so is it just me or is anyone else worried about what is going on??? Our country's economy is literally on the brink of a giant disaster....some experts are even talking "Great Depression"....ummmm hello, is anyone else scared? I woke up this morning and was somewhat relieved knowing that this 700 billion dollar bill was going to pass and that hopefully this was going to be the beginning to the end of this whole mess. However that did not happen! It didn't pass. Now I don't know all the in's and out's of the bill. I am sure there are many pros and cons. All I know is that something needs to happen soon or before you know it we will be standing in bread lines!! (j/k...well you never know)

Now....is anyone sick of hearing about "hope" and "change" from the democrats? If I hear "change" one more time I might freak out:) Look, I know Obama is young, energetic, a great public speaker, charming, and likes Ludacris, but does that make him the least bit qualified to be President of the United States?? Especially right now in these scary times? The answer is NO! If he wins he will definitely bring change to this country, but I don't think it's the change Americans want. He will raise taxes to fund his TRILLION dollar unrealistic programs. Look, who wouldn't want free health care for everyone, of course that would be amazing, but someone has to pay for it and do you know who will...YOU! I don't want to have to wait a year to get into a specialist if I have a health problem. And what would be the motivation for people to go to medical school anymore when doctor's salaries would decline significantly. Obama says he will cut taxes for 95% of American's. This is simply not true...nor realistic. How can he cut taxes for 95% of people and still get his trillion dollars. Really, if you know how he can do this please enlighten me, I would love to know:) The next time you get a pay check look at how much taxes are taken out....doesn't it make you mad, now think about that number going up. It will happen if Obama is our next president. That is just one thing that would "change" our country. Not to mention his disgusting views on abortion. He really voted "present" which is a "NO" on a bill that was proposed to the Illinois senate to make it a law to give assistance to babies who are born alive during a labor induced abortion. What kind of human being would not want to make that bill a law! I don't want to go into the details of a labor induced abotiron, and I know this is such a sensitive topic, but it really makes me so sad. Obama was asked at what point does a baby have a right to life. His answer was "that is above my pay grade to answer that question" then in a separate interview he said "I will teach my daughters morals and values but if they make a mistake I don't want them to be punished with a baby" Are you kidding me! That is horrible. The democrats complain that over 4,000 innocent lives have been lost in this war, which is absolutely horrible and tragic, however, you don't hear them complain about the 2 million innocent lives that are taken every year due to abortion. According to statistics there are about 2 million abortions a year. So since this war has started there have been about 10 million abortions. Talk about innocent lives being taken. I really don't want to offend anyone, but this is just shocking to me. It's something to really think about. There are many, many more reason why I think Obama would not be good for this county but I don't want to write a novel. All I can say is you can't vote "present" when you are the President of the Untied Sates. Please just do your homework and look into these issues yourselves. And please don't watch CNN or MSNBC to get your info! It's your responsibility:) Wow, sorry for going off.....I didn't realize I typed so much. Yes James, Todd, and Ben...politics do matter, he he. I know, Russ and I are litte nerds.

I think those are very good and valid points! I agree! It is so frustrating when people say, "Obama is the change this country needs." No...It is not! I feel the same way...especially living in a VERY democratic city of Las Vegas. Every day in the media there are tons of Mccain bashing ads...what will they do when all those ads become true about their candidate OBAMA? It is so frustrating! I know...I know crazy. Anyway...I am rambling, how are you? I found your page and it is adorable! Hope all is well.

All I have to say is, Amen!!! Wow! I didn't think my thoughts could be written down , but there they are! Very well put. It is so refreshing to hear some one talk rationally about the election and issues at hand, and not sound like they are voting for their next high school class president.

I am so glad you posted this!
I'm really disappointed with who the nominees are.
Remember that man who was "business savvy" and who built an empire from businesses that were failing?
Notice how our country is now facing a financial depression and the ONE CANDIDATE who could have helped us didn't get enough votes?
Our nation is going to be stuck in this rut until next election time.
And by then I hope America realizes that we need someone w/ financial experience in the white house.

Nice Brookie! Everyone loves to bash McCain, it is good to see some Obama bashing! The words punished by a baby sit so wrong in my stomach, but I know you are not supposed to focus on just their moral beliefs. I really wanted to like Obama, but I would have to agree with you on how I feel about him. I say bring on another depression, people do not know what they have until it is gone. I will see you in the bread line lady! hehehe yes I am truly that crazy. I just keep thinking of the saying, Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

Oh how I love you. I feel the EXACT same way, and not because of the party he belongs to. I'm sick of Obama lovers making that excuse. It has NOTHING to do with being a republican or democrat. It's him as an individual I do not like. I already got in trouble for my Obama rants though, so I won't say much more...haha, just kidding. We should all get to say our views, and everyone should educate themselves, because it is SCARY!!!

I'm not sure what rant Andrea got in trouble for, but I would like to hear that story. Basically, if you think unborn babies have no rights, you want a president who has strong associations with a racist pastor, a unrepentant terrorist who helped him launch his political career, a convicted slumlord felon, was raised by,in his own words, "a racist grandmother, typical white person" says he doesn't want his daughters "punished with a baby" and many other "values" he holds, has a wife who said months ago that "for the first time in my adult life i am proud of my country" and has no experience because he spent half of his 4 years in the Senate campaigning for President than vote for Obama. If you want a decent human being who loves America and actually understands things such as foreign policy and national defense than vote for John McCain. It is simple really!

Amen Sista! I am glad I set my gun and religion aside for a minute to read your blog. I am just so bitter these days all I can do is shoot sh*t, and be racist... I am sure you understand.

BTW, Please don't steal Russ's flag anymore!

Even though I may not agree with all of your views. :) I'm so glad you voiced them! I think everyone needs to get involved! The economy is so scary! And it scares me even more that people don't want to get involved and get educated on all of the issues. Actually have a voice and vote. You are too cute Brooke.

Andrea, you didn't get into trouble. I just said how I felt about your comment you left me. :)

K, this just might shock people - Haley Lichtie doesn't like any of 'em. Yup. That's right. Don't like lots of things about Obama, don't like lots of things about McCain. My problem is that these are the two we get to choose from. Pretty sad.

Oh, and I agree with Natalee. Love to see you 2 agreeing on a "team". Speaking of which, are you going tonight Brooke? I gave my ticket to Mitch so I could stay with Ava.

The economy and the presidential election has been on my mind (and everyone else’s too), but it’s a relief to read the view you expressed and the information you shared! I just wanted to reiterate one of your points too. That is, we do need to be critical listeners when watching certain programs that tend to side toward one party more! That’s been my difficulty watching some of those programs as well. All through our Mass Communications Major professors expressed the importance of unbiased journalism. Yet, every time I watch some of those programs the journalists seem to convey very bias sides of the debate. In fact, during the last election CNN showed totally different polls than what was really happening and on other television programs! We need the news not favoritism and bias opinion!

Lastly, I just really appreciate your information and facts on war and abortion! Good point and well said! You and Russ are not nerds! You’re smart for being involved and sharing in the debate!

Okay Brooke I may be the only one commenting that likes Obama! Oh well. But to all you Obama haters instead of spending so much time/energy into bashing Obama why not campaign for what you like about McCain? You can dig up neg. info about both of them and is it always accurate? Why not talk about the positives of both candidates and decide which issues are more important to you. And lets be real that Obama has MANY great qualities about him and is why he is the democratic candidate. Do watch MSNBC and CNN along with ALL other newspaper, tv channels to get educated & the most accurate info. about our candidates!
